Channel 4 planning “repeats channel”

Channel 4 has announced that it is planning to launch a new channel that will show the most popular programmes of the last 7 days. ‘Project Shuffle’ is an attempt to increase the broadcaster’s portfolio share. Under the plans, Channel 4′s content would be made available for the next seven days in a linear broadcast fashion. For example, an episode of Location, Location, Location which would be shown on a Wednesday would be played out in the same slot on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It’s understood that films and acquired series would not be a part of the new service due to rights issues.

A spokesman for Channel 4 has said “We are always looking at ways of innovating our offering to viewers”, but has declined to comment further on the plans.
